Pequot Lakes MN - Mile 21
Pequot Lakes and Breezy Point are well-known for their many festivals that attract visitors to the region from all across the country. Pequot Lakes hosts Stars & Stripes Days and Bean Hole Days each summer, and Taste of Pequot every fall, while Breezy Point hosts Ice Fest in the winter. Paul Bunyan made his mark in this region when he rested his fishing bobber on the Pequot Lakes water tower and would keep an eye on it as he kicked back and relaxed in his over-sized chair.
His trail, the Paul Bunyan State Trail, runs through the city of Pequot Lakes and runs north to Bemidji and south to Brainerd. This community also is home to the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway – a nationally recognized scenic byway with 50 miles of paved, wide-shouldered county roads, meandering around the Whitefish Chain of Lakes. The area is known for its shopping opportunities, with many unique stores offering a selection of products that appeal to many different tastes and interests. On Thursdays during the summer in Pequot Lakes, catch a unique shopping event with Market in the Park, a hybrid of a farmer's market, craft and merchant fair and food fest, to complement the many stores in the community.
